Manu's Kitchen Rules!

Manu鈥檚 Masterclass saw parents and staff meet for welcome drinks before gathering to watch the My聽Kitchen Rules chef whip up two tasty dishes. The challenge? To recreate the dishes then sample their masterpieces 鈥 all in aid of social justice initiatives.

First on the menu: Banh Xeo Omelette, a thin Vietnamese crepe like pancake with prawns, pork fillet, pickled carrot and onion, and a chilli and lime dressing. As Manu prepared the dish, he shared tips and tricks along the way.

Tip #1:

Crush your garlic by turning your knife to the side and pushing down with聽force until the vegetable cracks underneath. Noted.

Tip #2:

Roll your lime back and forth a few times to loosen the juice inside.聽When聽it鈥檚 time to juice, use a fork and twist the lime half way around the fork. Works like a charm!

Next up was a Bo Bun French Vietnamese Beef Bowl 鈥 porterhouse scotch fillet, pickled聽carrot, vermicelli noodles and mint and salted peanuts, cooked and dressed in a tasty fish聽sauce and rice vinegar dressing. Every bit as delicious as it sounds.

鈥淚鈥檝e been very lucky,鈥 he said.聽鈥淔ood has taken me all over the world and given me the chance to have some amazing聽experiences that I may have never had without it.鈥

As a father of two, Manu believes there should be more of an education around cooking聽for today鈥檚 young people.聽鈥淐ooking with your children is such a valuable life lesson that you can give to them,鈥 he聽said.

Yet the chef admits that his own son, Jonti, who鈥檚 a 成人综合网 student, isn鈥檛 very interested聽in creating in the kitchen.聽鈥淗e鈥檚 more into his sports. But my five-year-old daughter enjoys being in the kitchen 鈥 she聽can make her own scrambled eggs,鈥 he added.
